Wounded Wisdom

Right person,
Right time,
Wrong me,

Oh how I fall to my knees asking the lord, why he took you away?

I was never a dog,
I was never out here biting,

I admit it, I was insecure,
I was out here saddened

You was out of my league, like a retired player,
Never thought I deserved you from the start,

So when the end made its way through SMS, I wasn’t in it for the chase,

I bank on you, finding true happiness down the line that you were never able to secure with me,

Good girl,
Good head on your shoulders,
That’s a double entendre, that only the men who’ve experienced you can relate to,

Fast forward the man I see in my reflection would’ve been the ideal fit for the old you,

Heartbreak has a sense of humor I tell you that,

No I’m not perfect, but my wounds have gave me a new found view on love,

Rule number one, my self love comes first, if I’m not loving me, I’m only confusing you,

Rule number two, please continue to walk the steps you walked before me,
If I fell for you, I landed at your feet for a reason,

Rule number three, you can’t change who you stand in love with, if you wanna change them you have to question if you were ever in love to begin with,

I see clearly,
My love is healthy,

Wish I could work a little day light savings and turn back the clocks but in reality..I wasn’t meant for you,

You weren’t crafted for me,

We were destined to cross paths,
Give a lecture,
Teach a lesson,
Take notes & observe,

And prepare each other for that person we’ll be writing our vows to,

And in terms of vowels, I, O, U, an apology,
You fell for me hard, maybe it was the astrology,

You spoke on how we were the perfect match,
A Pay per view special,

I wrote out all yours wrongs and erased your rights,

And that’s how I ended up getting left.

Sincerely,
The Lost Poet
